Synapse Connect ("Synapse," "we," "us") operates the Synapse dating application and this website. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our services.
Information we collect
When you create a Synapse account, we collect information you provide directly: your name, date of birth, email address, profile photos, healthcare credential details (license number, issuing state, NPI where applicable), schedule preferences, and the content of conversations you send through the app. We also collect a government-issued photo ID and a verification selfie for the sole purpose of confirming your identity.
We collect limited technical information automatically: device type, operating system version, app version, crash diagnostics, and authentication tokens.
How we use information
We use your information to verify your healthcare credentials and identity, to match you with other verified users, to deliver in-app messages and notifications, to prevent fraud, to comply with applicable law, and to improve the product.
Verification data
Identity verification is performed using AWS Rekognition for face matching. Healthcare credentials are checked against publicly available state board records and the NPI registry (NPPES) maintained by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Government IDs and verification selfies are stored encrypted and access-controlled; they are retained only as long as required to support your verified status and to comply with audit obligations.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers (Supabase for application hosting and database, AWS for identity verification, Expo for push notifications, RevenueCat for subscription management, OpenAI for AI-assisted features) under contractual confidentiality and data-use restrictions. We share information with other users only as you direct (your profile, messages, and signals). We may disclose information when required by law.
Your rights
You may access, correct, export, or delete your Synapse account and associated data at any time from within the app or by contacting us. Deletion removes your profile, messages, photos, and verification documents within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
